Kids making Music on the Dommel

In 2012, Music on the Dommel will also take place on Sunday, June 3. While the festival concept for the Saturday (June 2) stays unchanged, the Sunday will be marked with a whole new program, directed at children. Music is important for chilren. It's an effective way to express emotions as well as a way to be together.

Through an educational project at school, young children are preparing to perform along with experienced professional musicians during a fantastic matinee concert on the main stage of Music on the Dommel. The goal is to bring children directly into contact with music-making, with orchestras, and with classical music. And of course, it's a unique way for kids to learn how great it is to make music together.

The involvement of children at Music on the Dommel arose as a result of one of the goals of the CultuurConnectie organization: bringing together amateurs and professionals. It's also a logical step, given the history. The festival, and remains, a student initiative, with the student music association ESMG Quadrivium an important partner in the organization.

Contribute to Music on the Dommel

Music on the Dommel is a festival that is organized primarily by volunteers.

A team of over 80 persons is involved in the creation of the fesitval. Without volunteers, Music on the Dommel doesn't exist. We're therefore always looking for people who want to strengthen this enthusiastic team. Read more about volunteering ...

Enrollment for main stage participation now closed

The enrollment period (until September 18) for Music on the Dommel 2012 has now closed. Due to the large number of applications, it is unfortunately not been possible to all offer music groups a place on the main stage. All associations that have shown interest in participating will receive a timely response about their participation.

It's still possible to applying to participate on the ensemble stage, through emailing deelnemen@muziekopdedommel.nl More information about participation can be found in the (Dutch language) General Conditions of Participation document.

"Music on the Dommel an asset"

So declared the headline on the Eindhoven Dagblad on Monday after the festival.

With a diverse musical program of the highest level, higher attendance than in 2010 and again fantastic summer weather, Music on the Dommel 2011 is declared a major success.

The organization thanks all participants, audiences and patrons who have helped this Second Edition succeed.
